Hello everyone!
Yes it is I, the one who never writes on his blog anymore. I have come here today to finally bring you something you’ve all been waiting for. It’s something new, different and exciting. No, it not a cash donation to all my reader’s bank accounts. And no, it is not pictures of me getting naked… as high as the demand for said pictures may be. It is a brand new interactive Ask Me page!

Yes that’s right, the wonderful Sara and Jelena have completed the WordPress plugin Ask Me. It has been long awaited by many, especially myself (sorry for bugging you heaps Sara ). But the wait is finally over and now we get to enjoy it to our hearts content!

So what is Ask Me? I hear you ask. Well Ask Me is a small little WordPress plugin that allows visitors of my site to ask me those questions they have just been busting to ask me. The questions that only I could know, whether I tell you the answer or not is a completely different story! If and when I do answer your question both question and answer will be posted on my Ask Me Page.

So now is your chance, head over to my very own Ask Me Page and ask me anything you’d like. Your question will be delivered to my inbox and answered as soon as possible! Only appropriate questions will be answered (sorry Doc), but if you’re desperate I’ll just email you the answer.

Hope to hear some interesting question from you soon!

I have heard it many times and you may have heard it sometimes yourself, Melbourne, is apparently the most liveable city in the world. A study was done to see where the most liveable cities in the world were, and the main factors for the survey was stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.

Take note! Please notice that there is no “driving around the city for 20 minutes” amongst these factors. If this were the case, Melbourne would not have scored as well as it did. Why? Because no one in this bloody city can drive. And I for one am sick of it, it’s getting ridiculous and I’m going to do something about it. I don’t know what yet, but I am.

I was driving along a main road this evening, going the speed limit through an intersection, and as I’m going through I see a car coming from the left turning left to travel the same direction as me… if that makes sense. I thought this car was going a bit fast, but I thought, surely it’s going to slow down and give way to me like it should… But no, it cuts out right in front of me! Luckily I was prepared for this and knew there wasn’t a car beside me and was able to change lanes VERY quickly.

I then proceeded to hold my 3 tone horn down for about 15 seconds next to this, as it turns out, woman. I found this as I drove past her driver’s side… seeing her on her bloody mobile phone! I couldn’t believe it! This goes to show people that mobile phones do cause accidents. I won’t tell you that I then jumped in front of her and slammed on the anchors, which she then changed lanes and turned right very quickly. I then proceeded to do a 180 and try to follow so I could kick her door in, but alas I lost her.

Kick her door in? Did I say that?! Well, I did say I’m sick of these drivers and am going to do something about it. So there you go, cut me off and I’ll kick your door in.

For those who know me, you would know that I absolutely love the globally watched reality TV show Big Brother. Me being based in Australia, I of course am watching the Australian one. Unfortunately the excitement and enjoyment of watching the show is dampered somewhat by the old battered and very-hated stage-host Gretel Killen.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen or met anyone more annoying than this person. I don’t know her personally (thank God) but I could just imagine meeting her and punching her in the ear. She thinks she is the best thing since sliced bread (there have been many better things than her since sliced bread) and it’s time Big Brother finds another stage-host.

I honestly don’t know of anyone in my circle of friends, and even their circle of friends, that likes this old bag. I can’t even comprehend how she got the job, and I am absolutely astounded as to how she she has the job! Surely they could find someone better? Anyone?! She wears clothes you should only wear as an 18-21 year old, sometimes it makes me just wanna puke!

Honestly, I hope that she enter the house… Not the Big Brother house, the House in Hansel and Gretel, the Fairy Tale Story. But instead of Gretel pushing the old witch into the oven, it should be the other way around, and Gretel BURNS!

If you feel the same way about Gretel as I do, please leave a comment, I’m thinking of starting an online petition…

This post was all about the price of petrol and what it means to the average vehicle driver. Unfortunately this section was deleted but you can read the rest of the post (the important part) by clicking the link.

As you can see from this image, petrol is quite cheap. It’s that red bit that kills us. This graph was brought to you by the Australian Institute of Petroleum. Apparently petrol’s base cost (allowing for inflation) is actually cheaper than it was in the 80′s. Now, i don’t really remember the 80′s, given i was quite young. But I remember it being pretty cheap. So, we’ll allow for inflation, which has recently been going up about 0.5% per year for the past 4 years or so, and then less the base cost of petrol, and we’re still paying a bucketload! Anyway, my point is, it should not be costing us this much to get from A to B. I don’t know why, I don’t know how and I don’t really care how, but won’t someone please LOWER PETROL PRICES?!?!?!

But, there is a way you can help this. You can donate to this Paypal account and you can help reduce the cost of petrol*.

Heard a funny thing on the radio today. China has announced a tax on chopsticks as part of a range of measures to protect the country’s deteriorating environment. 1.3 million cubic metres of wood EVERY YEAR. Now, that’s quite a lot of wood. And honestly, all I can really say to this is… get a fuckin Knife and Fork! Sure, I’m all for culture and sticking to your history, but seriously, it’s getting old. It’s time to move on with the rest of us. When the planet dies from not having enough trees (which it will), I’m going straight to China for an explanation. It’s just like Jerry says, they’re well aware of the fork and spoon. I dunno how they missed it – Chinese farmer, getting up and working in the feild with a shovel all day… hello, shovel… there it is… You’re not plowing 40 acres with a couple of pool cues!

Another thing that annoys me immensly recently, is seeing parents at shopping centres, with their kids. What annoys me more is when they bring their kids along, take them into shops such as mine (a lolly shop/candy store) and then complain and get so angry because the kids ask for something! I mean, what do they seriously expect? Sure, they’ve gotta take their kids along if they have to, but there’s no need to take them near the one shop that they are almost guaranteed to run off and into! It’s just teasing them! When the parents take the kids in, the kids pretty much expect something, because they don’t know any better. And then they wonder why they’re yelled at. Anyway…
In other news, I’ve tweaked my site so those who use IE (God forbid) can look at it. I’ve also changed the problem with the navigation in the Photos page so it’s pretty much fully completed. Now I’m just waiting on the ‘Ask Me’ plugin to be delivered by Sara, and that’ll be it!

At the moment I’m listening to a band called Nine Black Alps. A fantastic grunge band which I first heard on an episode of The O.C. just recently. I’m totally loving their acoustic stuff. Behind Your Eyes is particularly good. And I have decided i’m going to try learn it on guitar, if I can find the tabs that is. I also recommend Cosmopolitan and Unsatisfied. Check them out!

At the moment I can put my favourite TV shows down to four… Prison Break, The Simpsons, The Office (US Version) and Arrested Development. Unfortunately Arrested Development has been cancelled (for the time being) but I still watch it all the time – it’s probly my favourite. I can’t get enough of Prison Break – the suspense is just awesome. The Office, just gets funnier and funnier! And The Simpsons, always a good show – this season didn’t start well but is getting heaps better.
Well, I think that’s about it for today’s post, quite a large one, but i had a lot to cover. I hope you’re all doing well, and feel free to drop me a line sometime! Thanks for reading!

Signing off, Robbie Coutts.

Well this is the post I promised you earlier… I have left the current Valentine’s Theme (which I created) on for all those that may not have visited the site on the day so they can enjoy it also. Don’t get me wrong… I hate Valentine’s Day… I just saw it as an oppurtunity to make my website pretty! Yes, I said hate. Shall I explain why?

The history of Valentine’s day can be traced back to a Catholic Church feast day, in honor of Saint Valentine. I bet almost nobody knows this, because, much like every other single ‘special’ day, it has become commercialised. Much like spending a shitload of money to buy everyone a present for christmas, and easter eggs for easter. People buy flowers and chocolates for each other, two things that last 2 weeks at the most, just to ‘express’ how they feel about each other. Funny how what one person’s feelings look and taste almost exactly like the next customer’s!

I suppose it is a day full of oppurtunities, for those waiting for the right time to express themselves. It may make a more comfortable atmosphere you know. It’s also a day for more oppurtunities, like those who may be alone, to feel even more alone. And y’know, for those who do have someone – they have the oppurtunity to fulfill expectations, or not, and suffer the consequences.

I was one of the lonely ones, working in a chocolate shop, with people coming in with flowers to buy chocolates to give their loved ones. So it wasn’t a terribly enjoyable and busy day at work, but it pays the bills.

So, that’s how I really feel about Valentine’s Day, and I hope that this has rubbed off on some people, if not everyone. After all, we need real Love, not commercial Love.

Thanks.

Robbie

Or maybe it’s all you’ve ever known and it’s tradition… For me, it’s all of the above. Religious, enjoyment, and traditional reasons are why I celebrate this one day each year. But as I grow older I begin to wonder why almost all of the western world celebrates this holiday? The whole reason for this holiday originally was to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Now, how can people celebrate a Holiday like this and not believe that Jesus existed? It’s like celebrating Valentine’s Day while you don’t believe in Love. It’s like celebrating thanksgiving and not believing in Pilgrims. It has become a holiday that is primarily placed on the retail calendars, taking advantage of people’s liking of giving presents to each other by bumping up prices and raking in profits. But I believe this year, retail sales decreased dramatically in Melbourne (at least the shopping centres i visited during) and will continue to decrease as each year goes on. Perhaps people are realising the real reason and importance of Christmas and buying less presents. I also think it could be because there’s not really anything new on the shelves these days, it’s just the same old crap.

Well, another Christmas is over and as we head into the new year we think about our new year’s resolutions. What is your new year’s resolution? I’ve never really made any real resolutions nor gone through with any (serious or not). I would love to hear what your new year’s resolution might be if you’d like to leave it in the comments. I will have a think of what I might like to accomplish this year and I’ll let you know in my next post.

Currently I am sitting in bed. Yes that’s right, i’m in bed. For those that don’t know, I finally purchased my very own laptop! It’s a beautiful Apple Powerbook and I absolutely love it! It’s just great! I mean… i’m in bed! It doesn’t get much better than that! I plan to use it primarily for freelancing which I plan to start within the next month officially. I believe I have the ability to be quite successful, but I’m just worried about actually getting the work to do. But i’m hoping that once word gets out about how good I am, business should pick up.
On a similar note I also got my own 30GB Black iPod Video which I also love! Both of these products are super sexy and I can’t imagine myself looking back (to windows).

That’s pretty much all I’ve got to say at the moment I think. I will hopefully post at least once before I go to adelaide for my summer break (which I can’t wait to get to and am in desperate need for)! If I didn’t say it to you personally I’m sorry, but i’ll say it now anyway – Merry Christmas! I hope you had a great day whatever you were doing!

Signing off once again -
Robbie Coutts, The Breakfast of Champions…

P.s. I am changing to the old theme as it is no longer Christmas. But I’ll be working on something new soon as well so keep an eye out for that!

Howdy peoples!
Just thought I’d inform you on a great movie I watched the other night! Napoleon Dynamite! I had massive expectations for this movie, with all the hype from friends and whatnot, so unfortunately I was a little dissapointed by it, but still a fantastic flick! The more I watch it the more I like it! It’s a different kind of humour to what you might imagine. As in it’s not your typical ‘comedy’ film with your one liners and toilet humour like most movies, it’s different. I’m not sure what it is, but I really like this movie. Where he lives, where he goes to school and all that are all key factors to what makes this movie great! And how Napoleon Dynamite looks… well.. take a look!

And the other characters that back this guy up are fantastic! Pedro! Kip! Uncle Rico and Tina (the llama) all make this movie that little extra funny! Funnily enough the guy who played Napoleon Dynamite actually looks normal!

*This next bit was written a few days later*

I just watched the movie with the commentary which includes jon heder (napoleon dynamite) and the writer. And what made this movie even better was listening to the writer talk about how almost every situation in this movie had happened to his brother! And it makes it funnier to know that these things actually happened!

*This next bit was written today*

Another thing that made me love this movie even more and even begin to be proud of it is the fact that Jeremy Coon (Producer/Editor) did all the editing for the film on a single mac computer, and for less than $6,000. The film was then taken to a film festival where Fox searchlight pictures picked it up for a cool 3.2 million. Not bad for a first timer!

Anyways, I think that you have to watch it more than once to truly enjoy it! It’s definately a different sort of comedy that relies on a true sense of humour. And I believe that if you didn’t think Napoleon’s line about girls wanting guys with skills was funny (at least the first time) I suspect no amount of explanation will bring that particular breed of humor to you.

I’ve tried many ways to start this post by being a smartarse. Trying to express my feelings through humour. But I couldn’t figure out anything that I liked, so I’m just gonna come straight out and say it. I <del>HATE</del> DISLIKE POMS!! That’s right. <del>Hate</del> Dislike ‘em.

I’ve been watching the cricket tonight, in the hopes that we might win this game and therefore keep The Ashes from going to England. But because of “bad light” and a <del>pussy</del> <del>no balls</del> weak english captain, they are wasting time sitting in the rooms, waiting for light to come back. Sure, it’s tactical for the win, because it means that we can’t continue to get the bastards out, but the Poms stupidity astounds me! Ok, shall i put myself in a Pom-attending-the-game’s shoes? – ‘You know what, I think I might go to the game, pay my money, sit around for a couple of overs, and then cheer when they go off the ground. That sounds fun!’ – What a bunch of dickheads!

Now you might say – reverse the situation, what would Australia do? – Well, like Dean Jones said on the tele earlier. I would like to think that Ponting, in the spirit of the game, would continue on. And Australia, in games previously played throughout the last decade or so have been willing to play in rain, hail or shine no matter what the situation is.

The commentators even said how bad the decision is to go inside – the whole point is because the fast bowling puts the batsmen at risk coz they have trouble seeing the ball – but when the umpy gives Ponting the option to use spin bowlers on both ends, then changes his mind and sends everyone inside… Can anyone say BRIBE?! Especially when spin bowlers have almost a 0% chance of injuring a batsman with such slow bowling. But i don’t blame Michael Vaughan for being shit-scared to face one of the greatest spin bowlers of all time. WARNEY!!!

Something else the commentators said that I really liked was – in England, you either play in bad light, or you don’t play. – It’s such a dreary place England. Dull and boring. But that’s all I have to really say about it all. I’m making myself angry.

Oh, one more thing. Have you ever noticed that Poms are really really unattractive? Take notice next time…

Oh – and if it’s any consolation, Luke hates them too!

Anyways, once again signing off…
Robbie, The Breakfast of Champions.
